Boat Safety Rules

1. STAY SEATED – Stay seated while the boat is underway to ensure your safety and to keep the view clear for the captain. Depending on the body of water or location it may also be the law to remain seated while the vessel is underway.

2. FOOD AND DRINK – Bring enough food and drinks for yourself and to share, but please do not bring foods that will stain or ruin the interior of the boat. Absolutely NO bananas are allowed on the vessel (its bad luck)! Please No Cheetos, Doritos or Takis and absolutely NO red drinks of any kind (e.g., Kool-Aid, Red Wine, Crystal Light). Stains will result in a cleaning fee of $150, payable once the charter has concluded.

3. NO TRASH OVERBOARD – Absolutely nothing goes overboard, put all trash in a garbage bag. Any debris thrown overboard may result in fines, penalties and/or charges brought against the responsible individual by the applicable D.C. waterway authorities.

4. ATTIRE – No dark blue or black jeans are permissible on board as they have a tendency to stain the leather seating. No shoes or heels onboard, however flip flops are acceptable. Always remove your shoes unless otherwise instructed by the captain to keep the deck clean. Please also wash offs and or dirty feet before boarding the boat. Fabric stains, excessive dirt, sand or debris will result in a cleaning fee of at least $150, payable once the charter has concluded.

5. SMOKING – Cigars and Cigarettes are welcome while underway. No smoking, candles, incense, etc., are allowed in the lower cabin. A burn hole in the seat or flooring is an expensive repair. Any damage to the boat interior will be billed at cost (once determined) to the individual responsible for booking the charter.

6. PROHIBITED ITEMS – No drugs or firearms are permitted on the vessel.

7. ALCOHOL – Alcohol consumption permitted while onboard. Motion sickness can be a factor for some during boat charters, especially with the potential for rough waves/choppy water. Please exercise judgement and know your limits. If at any time the party becomes to rowdy or safety becomes a concern, the captain and/or first mate may abruptly end your charter. No warnings are guaranteed if a safety concern is present, nor will refunds will be issued in this case. Vomit, stains, or soils will result in a cleaning fee of $300, payable once the charter has concluded.

8. ILLNESS – Please alert the captain and/or first mate in the event of an emergency while onboard or if any guest requires medical attention. The captain and first mate will make a judgement call on the safest and most effective way to get the affected individual the care needed. Please also alert the first mate and/or captain of any special needs or accommodations required.

9. CHILDREN – It is our mission to provide a safe and enjoyable experience while aboard Mahogany. While we love babies and toddlers, we are restricting the charter experience to children Ages 7 and above. All children under the age of 12 or less than 80 pounds are required to times while on board. Life jackets are available, please inquire with your Mahogany booking host.

10. SWIMMING –We would love for you to dip your feet in the water to cool off! NO SWIMMING allowed at this time.
